Who We Are
The Dr. Lyle F. Renodin Foundation, attentive to the religious tradition and pastoral mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, New York, is committed to the Gospel stance of social justice, which is lived out in a spirit of love, healing and compassion.
The Foundation will focus its energy and resources primarily in Cattaraugus / Allegany Co. in NY and McKean Co. in PA and strive to improve the quality of life of our poor and marginalized neighbors.
In 1991, the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany made the decision to merge their St. Francis Hospital with Olean General Hospital.
Proceeds from the sale of St. Francis were put in a fund that was used to benefit the charitable ministries and works consistent with the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany.
In 2000, the Franciscan Sisters named this fund the Dr. Lyle F. Renodin Foundation as an expression of gratitude to their longtime friend.
What We Do
Since 2002, the Renodin Foundation has awarded 420 small grants totaling $1,225,000 to 76 worthy organizations. Foundation funding has allowed these local agencies to provide financial assistance, food, medicine and shelter to the needy, among many other charitable efforts.
