Who We Are
Our mission is to help alleviate hunger and prevent the waste of food. With our platform and our network of volunteers, we aim to enable local businesses and individuals to easily donate their excess food to local charities.
What We Do
- The first model is called the FoodWeb Sandwich Army, which is completely volunteer driven. This currently consists of weekly sandwich drives that occur every Saturday between 1:30-3:30pm. Volunteer members can either choose to list their address (can be a local residence or place of work) as a donation drop-off hub, or they can search for nearby donation drop-off hubs that they may pledge a donation to.
- Those who register a donation drop-off hub are expected to be at their registered address to collect pledged sandwich donations between the time of 1:30-2:30pm.
- Those who pledge a donation are expected to deliver packaged sandwiches to their chosen drop-off hub during the 1:30-2:30pm window.
- After the drop-off time window elapses, the donation drop-off hub owner should drive all collected sandwiches to St. Luke's and deliver them to Gino by 3:30pm.
- The second model, which is currently non-operational, is nicknamed Uber for Food Donations. This involves 3 separate parties on our platform; an individual volunteer, a receiver charity organization, and a donor restaurant/organization.
- The donor organization will register a donation consisting of various food & meals on our platform, and will designate a pickup time window.
- A nearby receiver charity will automatically be matched with the donation if their availability hours line up with the donation pickup time window; charities must specify when they are regularly available to receive donations upon signup.
- Once the match occurs, volunteers will be notified based off of their proximity to the route and their availability hours; again, volunteers specify their availability upon signup. If they wish to perform the donation, the volunteer may schedule the delivery for a specific time slot within the donation time-window.
