Hispanic American Veterans Memorial 5K Race

The Western New York Hispanic American Veterans Memorial Committee will be having its 3rd Annual 5k Run & Family Walk on Saturday September 13, 2014 at 10:00 am at Erie Canal Harbor/Canal side. This year?s race will be held in memory of Marcos Daniel Lopez a deceased U.S. Navy and World War II Veteran. On June 14th, 2013 an Unveiling Ceremony was held at the Buffalo and Erie County Military and Naval Park highlighting the erection of a landmark monument that honors WNY Hispanic American Veterans. The monument was made possible by a joint effort of local community visionaries and leaders in collaboration with many public, private, corporate and individual donors. The funds raised from this event will cap off final costs and future maintenance of the monument. This event is also being held in part with the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and to most importantly to honor veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
