Who We Are
Canopy of Neighbors is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create new pathways to aging well and aging independently in community. We are one of over 350 “Villages” across the country that serve a diverse group of older adults, 62 and over, who wish to remain in their homes with the help of simple human services. Our service area encompasses the Elmwood/Delaware/Hertel area and close surrounding neighborhoods of Buffalo
Our services include vital transportation by caring, vetted volunteers who allow our members to get to medical and social appointments. Interactions with our volunteers – who often become friends – also provide a crucial social touch. The other component of our services includes the social programming necessary to stave off the social isolation that often affects an older population and leads to poor health outcomes.
