Who We Are
The mission of the Touching Bases Softball League of Erie County, Inc. is to provide a safe and supportive environment in which adults with disabilities can play competitive softball. Our goal is to teach the rules of the game and skills necessary so that all involved will enjoy a team atmosphere where winning is only a small part of the experience. Providing socialization, education, recreation, support, and enjoyment of the game is paramount to the Touching Bases Program.
We are the largest competitive softball league for adults (age 18+) with disabilities in Erie County.
What We Do
We expect more than 130 athletes to participate in the Touching Bases program in the 2015 season and we are looking for on-field volunteers to keep score, coach bases, and assist the athletes who may need some one-on-one attention.
We play the game with modified rules, trying to keep the ball in play as much as possible, but we also believe that our athletes are adults and want to be treated as such. And so, we keep score and our athletes learn to win and lose as a team, while learning the basics of the game.
