Do you enjoy quiet strolls through nature in the company of four-legged friends? If so, we got you! Located on a 47-acre property with rolling fields, lush woods, and even a federally-protected wetland, Against All Oddz Animal Alliance is the perfect, little sanctuary to get in touch with your inner zen while helping out some critters in need of love and guidance. We are a small, but mighty, organization looking to expand our pack and help further socialize our furry residents with new faces and new handling techniques. Working with the dogs directly is certainly the biggest draw here for volunteers, as per any rescue out there -- who doesn't want to spend time squishing faces and enjoy a game of fetch?

All we ask is a commitment of a single two-hour shift per week so that the dogs remember you, though we are flexible and understand life can be hectic! 

Tasks for Handlers include:

Providing enrichment for 6 dogs, such as going for a walk, trick or puzzle work, free play or snuggling, bath time, etc.Making sure water bowls are full and if on a feeding-shift that dogs are given their appropriate diets (and vitamins or supplements, as directed)Reporting any concerns for dog's physical, emotional, or mental well-being to staffAdhere to site protocols and policies to ensure that everyone, either dog or human, are safe from undue harmParticipate in volunteer meetings to connect with other like-minded animal lovers, and stay up to date on changes in treatment plans or upcoming eventsWillingness to shadow-shift with site supervisors for initial visits to properly become integrated into the pack and learn the tips and tricks for successfully working with our dogs (each of them have their own unique personalities after all)

Hello, kind soul! Here at Against All Oddz Animal Alliance INC., we are looking for folks who have a passion to bring order and charm to their environment and don't mind getting a little bit of dog-fur on their clothes (or potentially some slobbery kisses). Located in rural Darien Center, only minutes from Darien Lake Amusement Park, we are a mixed rescue/sanctuary for dogs caught up in the legal system with nowhere to go. We have 47-acres of pristine rolling pastures, lush forests, and even a federally-protected wetlands on the edge of our property!

Each of our 12 dogs either lives in their own cabin (with A/Cs, heaters, electric, all the amenities to make them comfortable) with the ability to enter and exit their own personal fenced-in run whenever they please! Our more social dogs live in our "Hotel" facility that is the central hub for most supplies and where volunteers hang out the most. Each of these dogs have their own private kennel space, and connected runs that allow them to run and play with each other as much as they want! It's quite adorable to watch. 

That being said, it takes a lot of hands to keep all 6 cabins and Hotel in tip-top shape (especially in the dreaded mud season that is spring) to ensure our furry residents stay healthy and bright, especially the ones who will be living here their entire lives. While we ask all volunteers to participate in housekeeping, we understand there are people out there who specifically do not want to handle the dogs, but still want to help out how they can. They are always our biggest heroes because of the harmony they bring to our rescue through cleaning and organizing! It can be very busy here, so with a little bit of your TLC, you can help enrich not just a dog's quality of life here, but also the other staff and volunteers running around nonstop! 

Cleaner Duties Include:

Sweeping and mopping floors / vacuuming rugsDusting and wiping down walls, surfaces, windows, doors, etc.Sanitizing door handles and vectors to prevent the spread of germs/bacteriaWashing dog bowls, rotating and scrubbing toys out of rooms, throwing away toys that have seen much better days, etcScoop poop as neededHelping rotate loads in the washer/dryerOrganize supplies as neededHelp our Volunteer Coordinator with gardening if that's up your alley!!

Join Against All Oddz Animal Alliance INC. in making a significant impact at our dog rescue/sanctuary by volunteering through grant writing. Our sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing and caring for dogs in need (primarily those caught in the legal systems due to misrepresentation or lack thereof), providing them with a safe haven until they find their forever homes. If they are deemed unfit to survive in the outside world, or have been court-ordered to, some dogs will be staying at AAO for the rest of their lives in their own private cabins with attached runs and all the indoor amenities to provide them the comfort and respect they so rightfully deserve. With your help, we aim to expand our rescue efforts and improve our facilities to save more animals in need!

As a volunteer grant writer, you will play a crucial role in securing funding opportunities for our sanctuary. Your responsibilities will include:

Research: Identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with our vegan and sustainability-based mission and needs.Proposal Writing: Develop compelling proposals that effectively communicate our sanctuary’s goals, programs, and impact on the animal world and Western New York community. Tailor proposals to meet specific requirements and guidelines of each funding opportunity.Collaboration: Work closely with our supervising staff to gather necessary information, statistics, and stories that showcase our achievements and highlight the urgent need for funding.Impact Measurement: Assist in documenting and measuring the impact of our current programs to demonstrate the effectiveness of past funding and the potential of future investments.
