Volunteer: Soccer CoachIn general, we are looking for mentors who can commit to working 90 minutes, 1-3x a week for a 12 week period (36 total sessions required) with children between K-5th grades in the City of Buffalo (total time commitment of between 2-6 hours/week). Sessions take place during the after school hours of 2:30-6:00 PM. There will also be additional training time required which we will discuss more in depth in person. The coaches are required to run a specific curriculum that teaches both soccer and health. We provide various opportunities for training for this program/curriculum. The coaches ability to mentor and develop relationships with the players is a top priority for all our staff members. Major responsibilities include: preparing, organizing, and teaching the weekly lessons provided; leading the program participants through each lesson; serving as a role model and mentor; promoting proper hydration and sports nutrition; attending 1-2 coaches meetings during the season; interact with the parents of program participants; attend the season starting and ending festivals; understand and believe in the mission of Soccer For Success. Coaches will be given the equipment and curriculum work with children in afterschool programs, giving them the opportunity to try a new sport. This position can be used as volunteer hours or as a paid position, contingent upon the submission of satisfactory proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States. In addition, it is required that all coaches pass the USTA Net Generation certification and background check.
