Volunteer: Program Volunteer (Docent)Program Volunteer (Docent) A Program Volunteer is also known as a Docent. A Program Volunteer is well educated and trained on the various offerings at the Museum, including but not limited to library programs, school programs, pocket-programs, and workshops. A Program Volunteer must be comfortable working with young children and taking a lead role in program facilitation.
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator and any staff member assisting with the program
Duties and Responsibilities: Provide a welcoming, safe, fun, and educational environment for all participants or visitors Attend required trainings to ensure proper presentation of programs Adhere to all standards, rules, and regulations set forth by Explore & More Assist in the program evaluation process including providing feedback and making recommendations Aid in preparation of materials needed for various programs
Skills and Qualifications Reliable “team player” Outgoing and pleasant attitude toward staff, students, and visitors Ability to lift 10 lbs. Prior experience in education and/or working with young children Willingness to learn new lesson plans A professional and positive approach to volunteering
Time Commitment Flexible availability with regular schedule. Weekend and evening availability is a plus. * Program Volunteers (Docents) are strongly encouraged to complete a minimum of 8 volunteer hours per month. This position requires a regular time commitment to Explore & More. If you are unavailable on a regular basis, please consider one of our many other volunteer opportunities!

Special Event Volunteers aid in the set up, clean up, and facilitation of the event. With your hard work at our special events, they are a huge success!

Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with clean up and set up of Special Events Aid children and families with various activities including but not limited to boarding a truck, locating parking, answering questions, monitoring a bounce house, guiding costumed characters, and taking pre-paid admission tickets Provide friendly and knowledgeable service at every interaction Assist with the preparation of materials needed for special events
Skills and Qualifications Reliable “team player” Outgoing and pleasant attitude toward staff, students, and visitors Ability to lift 10 lbs. A professional and positive approach to volunteering Must possess good communication and organization skills
Time Commitment Weekend and Evening Availability * We strongly encourage Special Event Volunteers to work both during the event and before or after.
