Volunteer opportunity in Blasell, NY. UPC Food Ministry Food Pantry is looking for help with WNY Food Bank deliveries.  We need People to can lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Delivery is the first and third Tuesday of the month in the morning around 8 am.

Receiving: We are requesting the shift leader to be able to lift to stock shelves, tear down tables, more racks back to the storage room, clean up... We received about 8,000 pounds of food each month and the shelves continually need restocking.  

Client Care: We are requesting that the shift leader be able to work on computers, talk with clients, complete reports, file paperwork.

Social Media Volunteer/Intern, Lockport,NY.  The Morlock Foundation is looking for a 4+hr/week Social Marketing Volunteer/Intern and Online Mobilizer. (REMOTE POSITION)

Must be familiar with Web 2.0 programs like facebook, twitter, pinterest, instagram and more.

Must be able to work as a team player and an individual.  

Must be able to review goal setting plan and make a plan to meet the goals.  

You will be working with a student team on Macro Practice.

Intake Client Care Specialist Intern/Volunteer, Lockport, NY: The Mission of The Morlock Foundation is to improve the quality of live of families in our community through resources, support, love, hope, education, respect, and respite. We help families survive.  

The intake specialist work with families from our Save the family program - those suffering the traumas of life. Typically disease, disability, dv and more.  

The intake specialist also works with families from our Food pantry program.  

Must be able to work on the phone with clients, work on the computer, calculate numbers for reports. 

In general, we are looking for mentors who can commit to working 90 minutes, 1-3x a week for a 12 week period (36 total sessions required) with children between K-5th grades in the City of Buffalo (total time commitment of between 2-6 hours/week). Sessions take place during the after school hours of 2:30-6:00 PM. There will also be additional training time required which we will discuss more in depth in person.                                                   

The coaches are required to run a specific curriculum that teaches both soccer and health. We provide various opportunities for training for this program/curriculum. The coaches ability to mentor and develop relationships with the players is a top priority for all our staff members.

Major responsibilities include: preparing, organizing, and teaching the weekly lessons provided; leading the program participants through each lesson; serving as a role model and mentor; promoting proper hydration and sports nutrition; attending 1-2 coaches meetings during the season; interact with the parents of program participants; attend the season starting and ending festivals; understand and believe in the mission of Soccer For Success.

Volunteers help a seniors get to the Dale Association (Lockport Adult Senior Centre). We even make the driving good for you. We provide the minivan?

Even 30 minutes can make a difference. We have short 30 min trips. We provide this services for the City Of Lockport and Town of Lockport Residence. We typically pick members up at 9:30 am and are back to the center by 10:00 am. Then we take members home around 12:30 am. You could drive either shift.

It’s easy to get started, just attend a training at the Dale, submit your Application and about one weeks after that you can start your meaningful experience with The Dale Association.

Eligibility rules for the Pantry Visitors are determined by Food Bank of Western NY (www.foodbankwny.org) so volunteers will should be preoared to meet people where they are "from all walks of life!"

A Long Term Care Certified Ombudsman is a dedicated, trained volunteer committed to improving the quality of care of residents in New York State long term care facilities.  Ombudsmen make a difference in the lives of a vulnerable population by listening to residents and their families and helping them to understand and exercise their rights to quality care and quality of life.  The Certified Ombudsman confidentially assist residents and family members with the following services:

Identifying, investigating, and resolving individual and systematic complaints around quality of care and resident rights

Educating residents and families in understanding their rights as residents

Connecting long-term care facility residents to the person(s) responsible for their care

Empowering residents and families on how to express their concerns and makes referrals to other appropriate community and advocacy agencies

Receiving and answering questions from individuals regarding financial, social, family, or legal issues

Protecting and advocating for the rights of persons living in long term care facilities

Comprehensive training is required to become a Certified Ombudsman and is coordinated by the program.  A weekly time commitment is also required to be a volunteer Ombudsman.

Having a friend can make all the difference to someone who feels anxious, sad, or lonely. Their isolation could be the result of any number, or combination, of life circumstances. A Compeer Friend helps them socially, becoming a positive role model, helping raise self-esteem, increasing social and communication skills, and encouraging independence.

We match volunteers with youth (ages 6-21), adults (22-59) and older adults (ages 60+) living in Erie County, New York who live with mental illness. Please note most of our clients waiting for a friend live in the City of Buffalo, with some clients living in the suburbs around the county. (We also have an affiliate in Niagara County as well and we would be happy to connect you with them!)

Volunteer screening includes an interview, references, background checks (including fingerprints, local police clearance, child abuse registry, and national sex offender registry), mental health first aid training and volunteer orientation.

Volunteer Friends must be 18 years of age, complete our screening process and onboarding process. Volunteer Friends are asked to spend four hours per month with their Friend and commit to one year of service. Visits between friends take place virtually, over the phone, and primarily in person.

Evangel Food Pantry is looking for volunteers to help meet the needs of our client base.  

We are located at 8180 Greiner Road (1/2 Mile from Greiner, Transit, Maple intersection) 

We are helping over 1000 people per month fight hunger.  

We are a client choice pantry. We fill the shelves and they pick what is best for them of what is available.  

We are in need of various volunteers: 

- working on the computer

-helping clients get their food

-taking their food out to their cars 

-filling shelves 

-picking up food once a week or once a month 

and various other positions. 

On mondays we are open 5am - 3pm.

Algonquin Sports for Kids is a non-profit organization that provides low-cost sports programming to youth in underserved communities across the city. Currently, we are looking to fill coaching positions for our tennis program. Coaches will be given the equipment and curriculum work with children in afterschool programs, giving them the opportunity to try a new sport. This position can be used as volunteer hours or as a paid position, contingent upon the submission of satisfactory proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States. In addition, it is required that all coaches pass the USTA Net Generation certification and background check.

Volunteers work one on one with dancers helping them learn the steps being taught by the instructor.
No dance experience needed, just a kind heart and patience!

It only takes one hour of your time, once a week to help one of our dancers. Volunteers must be 16 years of age and commit to at least one class a week from September - May. We are looking for volunteers for September through mid-May which culminates in an Annual Performance (always the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend).

We have high schoolers, college-age students, professionals, and retirees. Such a fun opportunity! You won't regret it. it will be the best part of your week!

Van Driver/Assistant

Description: To drive the Hospital van and provide transportation for our clients/customers to come to Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Pick up would be in eastern Niagara County and the City of Niagara Falls. 

Volunteer Hours: Van 1 would run Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm;

with two (2) shifts each day, 8 am to noon and noon to 4 pm.  Pick-ups would be scheduled in advance. Van 2 would run Monday – Friday (except Thursday) beginning at 8:30 am – approx. 1 pm.

Drivers: A driver or server arrives at 1920 18th St. at 11:00 a.m., picks up the meals in coolers and hot bags, takes them to their car, delivers following the easy to follow route sheet, then returns the equipment back to Niagara Falls Meals on Wheels. Generally you will be finished around 12:15p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
