GUILDCARE HEALTH AND WELLNESS INSTRUCTOR

SUMMARY: The Adult Day Health Care Program (GuildCare) provides healthcare and recreation for multicultural seniors with vision loss as well as chronic medical conditions. A volunteer with experience providing health and recreation for seniors is needed to serve as a Health and Wellness Instructor.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the program director or designee the Health and Wellness Instructor will:
1. Develop and implement inter-disciplinary health and wellness programming at the Adult Day Health Care program.
2. Coordinate group health-related workshops, wellness lectures and organize healthy activities.
3. Otherwise conduct activities that promote, maintain, and improve client’s health and wellness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to integrate wellness initiatives in disabled and blind social environment.
2. Experience implementing wellness activities and the ability to keep seniors inspired.
3. Degree in health education/promotion, public health, community health or a related field and/or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) designation required.
4. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.
DETAILS OF SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: This is an ongoing opportunity that begins upon approval by staff members. Candidates have an opportunity to serve Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm, at least but not limited to one hour per week, plus any time required for planning and preparation. A health form and proof of immunizations must be completed by physician. All candidates must be tested for TB prior to volunteering. The attire during this position is business casual.
