CLERICAL ASSISTANT

Lighthouse Guild is the leading not-for-profit healthcare organization dedicated to addressing and preventing vision loss.  Our mission is to provide exceptional services that inspire people who are visually impaired to attain their goals.  With Lighthouse Guild, people who are at risk for, or affected by, vision loss have access to all the resources necessary to lead full, independent, and productive lives. We provide services, research and education, and advocate to help people with low vision and blindness. Our vision is a world in which no person is limited by their visual capacity.

 

SUMMARY:  The Adult Day Health Care Program (GuildCare), which provides healthcare and recreation for multicultural seniors with vision loss, multiple developmental disabilities, and chronic medical conditions, is looking for a volunteer to support the administrative needs of this Program.

 

LOCATION: 1170 Main St, Buffalo, NY 14209

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.   Provide clerical support for Guild Care management and supervisors.

2.   Responsible for office communications (e.g., contacting clients, answering phones, filing, faxing).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as customer service skills.

2.   Must be comfortable working with people who are visually impaired and developmentally disabled.

3.   Must be mature, reliable, courteous, have good judgment and be professional.

4.   Must be organized and work well in an environment with constant priority changes.

5.   Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

6.   Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

 

DETAILS OF SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  

This is an on-going opportunity that begins upon approval by staff members. Candidates must be available Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm, at least but not limited to at least two days per week, four or five hours per day. A health form and proof of immunizations must be completed by physician. All candidates must be tested for TB prior to volunteering.   The attire during this position is casual.
