We are looking for volunteers for our JDRF One Walk. The JDRF One Walk is a family friendly fun filled event attended by over 3,200 supporters. Participants walk Delaware Park and celebrate their fundraising success towards a cure for diabetes. JDRF is the largest non-profit funder of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research in the world. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle—and it's serious and stressful to manage. There is nothing you can do to prevent T1D and there is currently no cure. But there is something you can do to help. Please register to walk with us today. We can't do it without you.
We are looking for positions in the following areas:
Check In - 8am-12pm (6 spots available): Check in walkers, collect walker envelopes, and hand out t-shirt tickets, food vouchers, and zoo wristbands.
Supplies Runner - 8am-12pm (2 spots available): Run supplies to the check in volunteers when they run out of certain items (collection envelopes, zoo wristbands, tshirt tickets, food vouchers, etc.)
Greeters - 8:30am-11am (10 spots available): Enthusiastic volunteers to welcome people to the JDRF One Walk, provide direction to Check-In and V1P Check-In tents, answer basic questions about walk day, direct walkers to the proper line or area to turn in donations or to receive T-shirt tickets, and ensure walkers have donations in completed collection envelope before proceeding to Check-In.
Tshirt Distribution (3 spots available for 8am-10:30am shift, 3 spots available for 10:30-1pm shift): Distribute JDRF walk T-shirts to eligible participants
Car Wrap Monitor (2 spots available for 8:30am -10:30am and/or 10:30am-1pm shifts): Monitor walkers as they sign a car that is stationed in the middle of the walk festival area. Make sure they don't sign the bumper or tires.
V1P Check In Host (2 spots available for 8:30am -10:30 shift and 2 spots available for 10:30 -1:00pm shift): Welcome JDRF One Walk V1Ps to the V1P tent (V1P's are individuals who raise a minimum of $1,000), and provide V1P with lanyard.
Photo Wall - 10:30am -1pm (2 spots available): Take pictures of walkers and families infront of our photowall using their cellphones and keep photobooth materials organized
Hot Dog Area - 9am-1pm (14 spots available): Prep, cook, and/or hand out hot dogs to walkers
Snack Tent - 9am-1pm (6 spots available): Set up food and beverage stations and hand out food and beverages to walkers
Route Cheerleaders - 10:30-12:30 (4 spots available): Enthusiastic volunteers to be along the walk route to cheer, thank and motivate walkers before the walk, and thank everyone after the walk
