Description

Taking pace on Saturday, May 4 at Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park, AIDS Walk Buffalo is a 5K (3.1 mile) fundraising walk that aims to raise awareness for all the individuals and families who have been affected by HIV in the Western New York community. Every year, more than 400 participants come together at AIDS Walk Buffalo to support those living with HIV and memorialize those we have lost to the disease. With more than 30 community sponsors and 1,200 donors, the event raised more than $80,000 in 2018.

HIV affects thousands of Western New Yorkers and their families. All funds raised through AIDS Walk Buffalo benefit the programs and services of Evergreen Health. Evergreen strives to create a healthier community by providing medical, supportive and behavioral services to individuals in WNY. One hundred percent of the funds raised stay right here in Western New York.

Every year, it takes over 160 volunteers to make AIDS Walk Buffalo a success. We can’t do it without you, and we would love your help to make this last AIDS Walk Buffalo our best AIDS Walk yet!

We are in need of a multitude of volunteer positions: from set up volunteers to cheerleaders, course monitors to clean up- there are so many ways to get involved! And signing up to volunteer is easier than ever this year! Head to our online volunteer signup page to read over volunteer job descriptions and sign up for the position that best suits you! This is a fabulous opportunity to invite your friends, family and colleagues to volunteer and join us as we prepare for our “Next Steps” in the conversation about HIV.

As a volunteer you will receive:

  • A highly coveted AIDS Walk volunteer t-shirt
  • Lunch at the AIDS Walk
  • Our unending praise and appreciation
  • An invitation to our Volunteer Appreciation Night party, taking place in the fall
