Volunteer: Self Advocate Mentor VolunteerCommunity Services for the Developmentally Disabled is seeking a Volunteer to act as a mentor to people in our Self-Advocate program. This Volunteer would provide guidance to the group regarding overall direction and advocacy efforts regionally and/or statewide. One would assist in teaching necessary skills to independently plan and facilitate self-advocacy meetings and activities. This opportunity provides mentoring and guidance to a group regarding overall direction and advocacy efforts regionally, as well as, statewide. Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled is a locally based non-profit providing services to developmentally disabled children and adults throughout Erie and Niagara County. Volunteer: Support Foundation Board of DirectorsOur Foundation Board is recruiting board candidates from all backgrounds to help spread the word about Community Services for Every1 and the meaningful impact we have in the community. Our board members work with community relations staff to coordinate fundraising events and broaden community recognition to address challenges for people with developmental disabilities. The time commitment is modest. We ask board members to share their time, their talents or their treasures with us. There is no donation requirement. We host 2 fabulous fundraising events throughout the year. Come and join our organization! You'll love who we are, what we do and the feeling you'll gain making a difference in the life of people with developmental disabilities. ** Prior board experience is not required. Training provided. 6 meetings a year (2 are social dinners combined with organization board) @ 1 hour in duration. Meetings are scheduled a year in advance and held every other month typically on Mondays at Noon. (Feb, April, June, Aug, Oct, Dec). A consent agenda is distributed two weeks before each meeting giving members the opportunity to prepare for discussion or votes at meeting. The board speaks with one voice under a majority system of voting. Board members are asked to share their talents, time or treasure. There are no donation requirements for members. Board members may opt to link the foundation with sponsorships and local community leaders to help secure donations. Board training provided throughout the year including the opportunity to work with a board mentor. Board orientation provided including site tours, acclimation with senior staff, program issues, financial issues, personnel, etc. Social opportunities are available to become acquainted with board members.
