Youth for Understanding USA (YFU) is one of the world’s largest and most respected international exchange programs. YFU exchanges American and international students in over 70 countries worldwide! Whatever you are good at or interested in, you will find a volunteer position at YFU that is ideal for you!

Volunteers perform a wide range of tasks, including:

Mentoring students, families and schools Encouraging potential American students to study abroad and families to host international students Interviewing prospective students and host families Planning and conducting orientations for students and families Sharing information with the community about YFU programs and opportunities Performing administrative activities

YFU volunteers enable us to receive more than 1,300 international students and send over 400 American students abroad each year. When you join YFU USA as a volunteer, you become part of one of the most respected programs in international student exchange. Some of the volunteer opportunities we currently offer include:

Supporting our international students and host families throughout their hosting experience. Interviewing potential host families. Facilitating and coordinating orientations. Organizing events for international students. Supporting YFU efforts to find host families. Interviewing Study Abroad candidates. Evaluating scholarship applications.
