Volunteers are needed deliver meals throughout Niagara County to clients in their homes. Pick up locations for these lunches are throughout the county. 

If you are Age 55 or older with some extra time to offer to others then you are eligible to join the RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) and receive program benefits also.

Volunteers needed in locations throughout Niagara County to assist with meals, serving, helping set up tables, clear tables and clean up.

Various days throughout the week (Monday-Friday)

Van Driver/Assistant

Description: To drive the Hospital van and provide transportation for our clients/customers to come to Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Pick up would be in eastern Niagara County and the City of Niagara Falls. 

Volunteer Hours: Van 1 would run Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm;

with two (2) shifts each day, 8 am to noon and noon to 4 pm.  Pick-ups would be scheduled in advance. Van 2 would run Monday – Friday (except Thursday) beginning at 8:30 am – approx. 1 pm.

Drivers: A driver or server arrives at 1920 18th St. at 11:00 a.m., picks up the meals in coolers and hot bags, takes them to their car, delivers following the easy to follow route sheet, then returns the equipment back to Niagara Falls Meals on Wheels. Generally you will be finished around 12:15p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Foster Grandparent Program matches older adults with children in classrooms throughout Niagara County. Foster Grandparents provide love, attention, and assistance to children with special needs.

Volunteers who qualify receive:
• A small, tax-free stipend
• Reimbursement for mileage/bus fare
• Supplemental accident/liability insurance and meals while on duty

The Senior Companion Program matches individuals age 55 or older with seniors in need of support services or companionship throughout Niagara County. Senior Companions provide friendship to their clients and assist with daily tasks necessary to maintain independence.

Some examples of activities Senior Companions may assist their clients with are: taking them shopping, transportation to the doctor or hair dresser, paying bills, running errands, meal preparation, medication reminders, social activities and a variety of other tasks. Senior Companions also provide respite and a personal break from the role of caregivers to family members who care for an elderly person in their home.

Senior Companions usually visit their clients between 2 and 5 hours each week, always on the same day and during the same hours.

Benefits:
Senior Companions receive a small, tax-free stipend if income eligibility requirements are met. This stipend is not considered income for any purpose. Senior Companions also receive pre-service and ongoing training, mileage reimbursement, and supplemental insurance coverage while they are serving.

Senior Companion Eligibility Requirements
If you are at least 55 years of age, meet low income eligibility requirements, are in good health and willing to provide assistance volunteering 5-40 hours a week, we want you to become a Senior Companion! Must also be patient and compassionate.
