Who We Are
The mission of the Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York is to:
- Provide information and support to the extended lupus community, including lupus patients, caregivers and families;
- Raise awareness and increase understanding about lupus and related autoimmune disease among providers, law makers and the public;
- Fund research that will lead to earlier diagnosis, more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
We serve 33 counties in the following four regions:
- Central New York – Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Oswego
- Genesee Valley – Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Yates
- Northeastern New York – Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, Washington
- Western New York – Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming
What We Do
The Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York provides free information and support to those affected by lupus and related autoimmune diseases; presents regional symposiums that provide relevant information and practical tools for managing chronic illness; offers L.E.A.N. FORWARD (Lupus Education & Advocacy Network) meetings (online and in-person); holds New Patient Orientation meetings for those who are newly diagnosed and all who have questions about their changing symptoms (online and in-person); hosts annual regional walks; advocates for the lupus community in Albany and on national issues; partners with other agencies to build a stronger community safety net; provides facilitator and advocacy training; and more.
