Who We Are

Peace Of The City’s mission is to be a force for good in under-resourced Buffalo neighborhoods, loving and empowering children, teens and their families in the name of Christ through our four guiding priorities: literacy, the arts, advocacy, and transformation.

POTC programs are developed to embrace and love kids, teens, and their families creating an environment where youth are challenged and inspired to overcome the barriers of illiteracy and excel beyond the cyclical poverty into which they are born. POTC’s trauma-informed care model supports the academic, physical, social and emotional health and transformation of youth. Our programs include Peace Club, formerly Homework Club (K-6th grade), Literacy For All (K-12th grade), and Teen Empowerment (7th–12th grade) including Teen Club, Creative Arts, our “Shakespeare Comes to (716)” theater ensemble, Workforce Continuum, College Prep, and After Hours tutoring.

What We Do

Together, these initiatives create a web of opportunity and support for our well-loved children and teens to move the needle academically and realize their full potential. In addition to program hours, staff initiate and share in numerous mentoring opportunities, small group outings, and life events with our students throughout the year because of the highly-relational nature of our programming.
