Who We Are

Vision:  All children will read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade, so that they can read to learn for a lifetime.

Mission: Read to Succeed Buffalo believes that through exposure to high quality, intentional literacy instruction and language-rich environments from birth through 3rd Grade, all children, regardless of economic or social challenges, can achieve success.

Theory of Change

Read to Succeed Buffalo serves as a change-agent, undertaking impactful, collaborative projects that break down traditional silos to measurably improve student achievement.  RTSB believes with exposure to high quality, intentional, literacy rich, early childhood environments from birth through age eight, all children, regardless of economic or social challenges, can reach their highest potential.  RTSB’s goal is to connect focused intentional, evidence-based literacy strategies in early childhood programs with school based programs through the third grade.  RTSB believes creating this comprehensive, high quality early learning network that is held accountable at every stage, is a critical part of a continuum of solutions supporting the academic success of young children.

Theory of Action:

RTSB is a convener and program innovator creating a comprehensive and replicable local early learning network focused on the explicit learning and development of children birth through age eight.  This focus is a scientific, pedagogical approach to ensuring that the investments made and measured by RTSB in high quality instruction at the community level continue through the entire developmental period we are looking to affect, regardless of the traditional barrier between preschool and formal school.  By creating a continuum of literacy rich, developmentally appropriate support from birth, continuing through age eight, all children and their families will receive the support they need to move from learning to read to reading to learn.

What We Do

RTSB provides scientifically based reading research interventions supporting childcare, preschool and elementary teachers to maximize conditions for improved literacy development and increase 3rd Grade reading proficiency.

Created by community foundations, RTSB focuses its efforts to improve early learning through implementation of evidence-based literacy coaching programs caring for economically disadvantaged children birth-eight years old.

RTSB believes through exposure to intentional literacy instruction and language-rich environments from birth-3rd Grade, all children, regardless of economic or social challenges, can achieve success.
