Our mission here at Native American Community Services is to provide quality human services that meet the individual and/or family needs of the off-reservation Native American community in Erie and Niagara Counties.
We began as a single program in 1975 to address unemployment in the urban Indigenous community of Buffalo, and incorporated as Native American Manpower Program. From the late 70’s until now, other programs were created to address health, wellness, children, families, elders, the developmentally disabled, addiction and Native American language preservation. During this time, we then incorporated as Native American Community Services of Erie and Niagara Counties, Inc. (NACS). Our four components serving the community are Economic Self Sufficiency, Community & Cultural services, Health & Wellness, and Family services. Our focal population is off-reservation urban Native Americans; however, most of our programs are open to people from any heritage.
