LockportCARES

MISSION STATEMENT

In response to God’s love shown to us through Jesus Christ, Lockport CARES opens its doors to women, men, and families with children who find themselves in need by providing emergency shelter, material needs, and compassionate care with dignity and respect.

In June of 2007 a group of area churches, organizations and agencies came together in response to the growing need of the homeless population in Eastern Niagara County. As a result of their tireless effort Lockport C.A.R.E.S., Inc. was founded.

Through the financial support of the community and hard work of many volunteers, Lockport CARES opened its doors to the first of many guests in November of 2009.

An acronym that stands for Community Action Response Emergency Shelter, Lockport CARES is an “emergency shelter” designed to assist women, men, and families with children who have no place to go. It will provide shelter and meals for up to fifteen business days. While staying at the 9 person shelter, the guests of Lockport CARES will be assisted with and guided in the means necessary to become self-supporting through information and referrals.
