Who We Are

The University Heights Arts Association (UHAA), organized in North Buffalo but serving communities throughout Western New York and beyond, is an association of visual artists, writers, performers, filmmakers, and businesses that serve as a driving creative force, economics engine and educational resource through the arts that makes a positive difference in the lives of our members, partners and the communities we serve.  The UHAA uses available spaces and discarded/recyclable materials to generate free art opportunities.

The University Heights Arts Association has the support of the Arts Services Initiative of WNY as the recipient of the 2016 ASI Spark Rising Star award which honors the accomplishments of a relatively new organization.

What We Do

The University Heights Arts Association provides low to no cost arts programming for artists and enthusiasts, including 3100 children and families per year through each of six programs:

ARTcovz®:  unique kiosks that offer free self-serve art project samplers produced by the UHAA to passersby in waiting rooms, community centers, parks and other public spaces.

ARTmembers: low cost membership featuring member web pages and online markets

ARTpartnering: a network of free exhibitions at businesses and community spaces

ARTgardens: an enclosed garden from an abandoned lot offering two exhibitions per year plus entertainment including poetry readings.

ARTbooth: Free make-and-take art activities at community events and public spaces.

ARTseeds: program packages and disseminates 1200 garden seed packets per year along with an illustrated garden guilde; produces a book called "Soil, Seeds & Secrets" which uses the seed as way to garden as well as a metaphor for personal and community exploration through the arts (since 2014).
