Who We Are
The Parkinson's Foundation Western New York is committed to improving the quality of life for those affected by Parkinson's disease. Tens of thousands of people in our area have been affected by the disease, whether they have been diagnosed or they find themselves as a care partner. Parkinson's is a chronic, progressive neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure. It is our goal to be sure that everyday is the best day possible for everyone in our Parkinson's community.
What We Do
The Parkinson's Foundation Western New York provides educational and therapeutic programming to the local Parkinson's community. Advocacy is important to us as well. Our chapter has 11 support groups throughout the region. We offer an annual Educational Symposium along with smaller informational seminars throughout the year. Our programs include growing Dance for Parkinson's offerings along with exercise and yoga. We promote 7 different boxing programs for those with Parkinson's, and we have a downhill ski program, and ice skating party, a wine tasting, Valentine's Dinner Dance and a variety of other social programs and activities.
It is important to keep the Parkinson's community active and socializing to improve outlook and mental well-being.
