Who We Are

The Niagara Celtic Heritage Society sponsors the Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival every September since 2001. Our Mission is to promote Celtic Culture in all its various aspects. These include language, music, art, history and ancestry, food, and athletics. Our Festival welcomes guests to the Highland Athletes field and Special Events field, our clan village,a large kids area and pony rides for the wee ones, a Celtic College with a variety of workshops, four entertainment stages with musicians and dancers, storytelling, historical re-enactors, and food and artisan vendors.

What We Do

Our volunteers work year round to plan the Festival, but the volunteer focus is the set up, running, and tear down of the Festival.

During set up we have to set up many tents, map where each vendor (approximately 75) must set up, put up signs, fence posts and fence, put in additional electric and lighting, move and set up rented tables, re-build the ticket booth, move rented chairs, etc.

During the Festival we need volunteers in the ticket booth to sell tickets using ipads, at the Front Entrance to greet guests, scan tickets, give out wristbands; help the grounds team to collect garbage, fix damaged supplies and fence as the need arises; help the security team to check guest wristbands, keep order, clear the parade route, report issues to the team leader, etc; and help the Operations Gate to check in participants.

After the Festival we tear down what we set up prior to the Festival including signs, fence posts and fence, electrical cords and lights. Organizing the rented tables and chairs for pick up and taking apart the ticket booth all have to be completed. All of the equipment we own has to be organized and put into storage.
