In just two seasons, the Buffalo Bills and the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County has raised over $700,000 through the50/50 raffle on game day with half of the net proceeds going to a winning fan, and the other half going to the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County to help fund programs and services in our community. Volunteers are recruited by the United Way from select companies and organizations throughout Buffalo & Erie County.
Volunteers can bring friends or family to help, but at least one volunteer must be an employee of the company or organization. Volunteers must be 18 years and older – no exceptions. Prior to the game, volunteers are provided with stadium credentials, stadium parking pass,?and information on the 50/50 program and what their volunteer role is for that day. Volunteers are asked to arrive to the stadium by 9:30 am in order to beat the traffic.
Volunteers are provided with a brief training on how to operate a handheld device that provides the 50/50 ticket, given bright pink aprons, and then sent out in Teams of 2 and 3 to pre-assigned locations in and around the stadium. During the game, teams are stationed in various sections of the stadium, stadium concourse and club/suite areas. Volunteers rarely have to ask people to purchase a 50/50 ticket because the program has become so familiar with fans that fans are now seeking out 50/50 volunteer sellers to buy tickets. Lunch is provided at kick-off, and volunteers are asked to sell tickets until the end of the 3rd quarter.
This is a fun event to do with friends and family, and fans are so friendly with our 50/50 volunteers.
Rema Hanash at the United Way will coordinate Bills credentials and parking passes directly with you once you respond to this need.
