VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! (10/18-10/21)

The Fruit Belt Better Block, Better Life will take place in partnership with AARP, the City of Buffalo, the City of Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency (BURA), the Fruit Belt Leadership, Futures Academy, SUNY University at Buffalo, and Grassroots Gardens.
The October 21st experience will transform a walkable block of Carlton St. into fully occupied district, complete with a family community space, outdoor amenities, public art, streetscaping and improved transportation options for biking and transit. We are looking for volunteers to assist with constructing project elements the days leading upto our October 21st event.
Carlton Street is a good street that could be made better. The Better Block process demonstrates its potential to increase accessibility by concentrating and distributing different uses. Combining the programs in different ways creates attraction and invites people to the area. Connecting the park and community garden with Futures Academy and activating the park will be the concentration of this project. We are engaging with the community and involving as many participants as possible to demonstrate the power of collective action. With willing and helpful partners, we can clear the path for making changes to streets and public spaces.
