RAHAMA, or Resources and Help Against Marital Abuse is a non-profit founded on Islamic principles dedicated to supporting women and children who are victims of domestic violence. We are looking for socially aware and culturally competent individuals as many of our clients are from the immigrant and refugee communities.
Responsibilities include:
- Interpretation of the following languages Arabic, Farsi, Hindi/Urdu, Somali, Swahili, Bengali, and/or Burmese. Knowledge of the dialects of these languages is greatly appreciated, but not required.
- Clarifying any confusion between staff and clients.
- Supportive Listening
Due to the nature of our work, all volunteers are required to undergo a background and reference check. Trauma-Informed Training will be provided prior to beginning one's service. Volunteers will be contacted on a case-by-case basis. This volunteer position is done remotely via phone calls or Zoom.
