Department: Buffalo Museum of Science
Volunteer Job Title: Golden Mummies Docent
Description: To be a friendly and helpful resource to our guests inside of the exhibit. Docents will walk around the exhibit, answer any questions, remind guests to social distance and sanitize.
Primary responsibilities:
- Smile and greet visitors as you see inside the exhibit.
- Answer any questions visitors may have while inside of the exhibit
- Ensure that visitors adhere to exhibit’s rules
o No flash photography
o No food or drink
o No sitting on exhibits or mummies
Secondary responsibilities:
- Remind visitors to keep their mask on at all time in the exhibit
Skills/Experience:
- Public speaking skills
- Must be able to be on feet for 2-3 hours at a time
- Some knowledge on Egyptian history is recommended but not necessary
- Must be able to attend a training session with museum staff
SHIFTS
Currently the museum is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday so those would be the days volunteers would have to have available for this opportunity.
COVID-19 UPDATES
All staff and volunteers must complete a COVID health screening prior to entering the museum. All volunteers, staff and visitors must wear a mask at all time. All volunteers will be given the proper PPE needed if they do not have a mask etc.
